I have had the recent privilege of exhibiting my work at the Grady Alexis Gallery at El Taller Latino Americano. The work was on exhibit from 12/1/04 through 1/31/04. The following photographs are from that exhibit.

(The thumbnails seen here do not do justice to this work, so please click on each image for an enlarged view.)

The 4 Seasons

Each painting measures 42" x 66" and is composed of textured gypsum compound and latex paint on Masonite.

The paintings cover one entire wall allowing the viewer to be "surrounded" by nature. Superficially the viewer sees my love of nature and the dramatic seasonal changes with which I have lived. On another level the viewer is allowed a glimpse of my "nature".

The Paintings from left to right are:

Self-Portrait #1

36" x 60"

Textured Gypsum Compound, Oil & Latex Paint and Silver & Copper Leaf on Canvas

Self-Portrait #3

36" x 36"

Textured Gypsum Compound, Latex Paint and Silver & Copper Leaf On Canvas

Ode To Pain

48" x 48"

Textured Gypsum Compound & Latex Paint on Masonite

9/11

36" x 48"

Textured Gypsum Compound, Latex Paint and Silver & Copper Leaf on Canvas

The first 3 of these paintings reflect how I see myself and how I present myself to others. Self-Portrait #1 is how I think people see me. Self-Portrait # 2 is how I see myself. The closer one gets  the more one sees. Ode To Pain is by far the most personal of any work that I ever done. It portrays a part of my existence that is almost impossible to describe in words, so I did it with paint.  9/11 is an homage to that day of tragedy, pain & loss. I purposely made them all rather large just to show that I can.

Please click on the image for a larger and much clearer image. The mirrors are strictly for decoration, but they sure were fun to design and make. Creating a shape for a finish that was just rolling around inside my head looking for a place to become real is a joy. The two tables were not only destined for the dumpster but had already made it there. I "revived" each piece and gave them a second life.

The following mirrors have been changed from simply mirrors to artworks by etching the glass:

This exhibit was mounted to show my creativity & versatility  as an artist. The other areas of this site show many examples of my work as an artisan.

Thank you for visiting my exhibit.
