These
chessboards are completely handcrafted. The base
i
s a heavy
wood composite
that simulates the heft of marble and will not warp. The dark squares are faux
marble/stone. The light squares and moldings are silver or gold leaf. The
surface is varnished to create a durable surface that should last for many
years. Occasional paste waxing will enhance the look and add to the durability.
