WELCOME! This site features examples of my work in faux finishing, gilding, stenciling & Fine Art, as well as handcrafted, gilded & painted mirrors & frames.

My mission is to create one-of-a-kind  artworks and unique finishes using traditional techniques for application in both residential & commercial settings. I also offer instruction to serious practitioners interested in learning these techniques as a way to enhance their homes and their incomes.

I don't know about you, but this Depression has me pretty depressed. I do know I'd feel a lot better with some money in my pocket so I'm going to sell every Handcrafted Mirror, Chessboard, drawing & painting I have left at 40% - 50% off. I'll even consider your best offer. (The PRICING PAGE has the formulas I use). This sounds like a win - win situation. I get to pay my bills, continue to make art and you get some great work at a great price.

Simply scroll through the different pages and look for the red squares next to an image. That means it is available. I'll even deliver it for free in the immediate area surrounding New York City.

Just let me know what you like and I'll do what I can to make it yours.

Are You Sick of the Same Old Rooms With the Same Old White Walls?

Remodeling can be expensive & time consuming. If you live in an apartment, it is often out of  the question. For a fraction of the cost you can make a dramatic change simply by wall glazing a room, marbling a table top or adding a stencil or two to give your home or office a new look.

Choose from a wide variety of shapes, sizes & finishes, or provide your own design, to create a one-of-a-kind mirror or you might like a gold leafed feng shui symbol for your wall.

Many services are available -- from wall glazing & furniture painting to Faux Finishes of all kinds. Don't forget to look at the many gilded finishes and Fine Art as well.

Custom work is encouraged and appreciated.

The Faux Finishing classes are here now!

One-On-One Faux Finishing instruction is available.

These private classes are designed for the student new to Faux Finishing. They are one-on-one to allow the student to study & work  without distraction.  You can study  a single subject, such as Wall Glazing or  take a more comprehensive course with several Faux Finishing techniques. You, the student, decide what you want to learn. I will provide you with the necessary tools to begin practicing the Art of Faux Finishing. The classes are hands-on practical training that will allow you to start using your newly acquired skills as soon as you leave the classroom.  Your training time will be only as long as you need. In many cases the basics can be taught in as little as a day or two. Painting Contractors will find this especially helpful when designing classes to meet their needs.

Classes are scheduled at your convenience.

I am also teaching a 4  hour hands-on  class for Janovic Plaza at their Wolf store - (212) 245-3241 on 9th Ave. at 52nd Street.. You can sign up by contacting me at the number below or by emailing me michaelsart@nyc.rr.com. In this class you will learn the basics of glazes and wall glazing with a look to how these techniques are used in more complex faux finishes such as marbling & wood graining.

Please take a look at the new INSTRUCTION PAGE (Under Construction). It will detail not only the private classes and those taught at Janovic Plaza but will also discuss my appointment as a Lecturer at NEW YORK UNIVERSITY where I am teaching  Finishing Techniques for Interior Designers. It is a Hands-on intensive classes covering the Basics and Beyond for the beginner and those interested in learning traditional Surface Decoration techniques.
